But it has left me almost no time to play TOR. I have my BH up to level 4 and 3 other toons created to save my names, woot :( yeah I know. I just don't have time with all the moving and cleaning and unpacking. My Dad was able to take some time off so I figured it would be better to use his help while I can than waste that time playing but it makes all my early access time nearly worthless. While other people are playing I am moving and packing. Useful and necessary, but nowhere near as fun. So have some fun out there for me.

I can't wait! I want to play now :( I also have a small problem. I close on my new place on Wednesday. While this is awesome I have a horrible feeling that will be when I get my invite, then or on Saturday when I will be moving all day. Because moving the week before Christmas isn't crazy enough now I have this crazy urge to fit gaming time in too. Thank goodness I took a few days off for my move or I would be killing myself with everything going. Only one more day of work though and I can get on with my real stuff, Yeah! That is all.

The Old Beta..

A long time ago in a galaxy far away...... There was lag and more lag and more lag. Yet, this did not keep me from playing for hours over the weekend. I started four toons, got a Trooper up to 12 with a companion and started some crew skills. My other three are between 4-8 because they didn't feel as bad-ass to me. The trooper is almost unstoppable, even with wonky targeting and movement lag so bad I never know which direction I'll be facing. Luckily he is smart enough to shoot behind himself :). Although sadly you get stuck with Jorgen the cat man. He's all bitter about his plight but if you've played a video game, watched an action movie, or read a book with any kind of action plot you can easily figure out why. In fact you already know every story-line ToR has to offer. They didn't try for any originality at all. They picked every standard coming of age, get revenge on your betrayers story-line they could adapt.Yet, I still found it totally fun. The game is so interactive that you just keep going no matter how frustrating it can be. The quests feel like real tasks and the choices you have to make, really make all the difference. The only real problem I foresee having is that making alts in that game is going to be brutal. The starting zone is cut off and you basically have to get to level ten to get out of the zone which takes a few hours at least. I am going to have to upgrade my video card before the game starts to really know whether some of the lag was dependent on that or just them not being able to handle the load yet. But overall I had a blast and would recommend it to anyone who likes MMO's or Star Wars. That's my initial reaction. Everybody have fun out there :) K Out!

First my big news. I am buying my own place, put an offer down and after a small amount of haggling we came to an accord. :) I have been looking for the last six months so it seems like its been forever getting done. As part of our offer to prove we were serious we put down for a 30 day close so now everything is super rush with inspections appraisals, approvals and so on. This being over the holiday season doesn't help matters and as my closing date is Dec 14 I will be moving at the worst time of year in the winter time. :( I am starting to burn out on all of this but will be extremely happy when it is all done. The place is awesome, I'll try to remember to put some pics up.
Secondly I got a spot in that beta everybody's talking about but as the download speed here is not the fastest I ma on my second day of downloading the client and will still be downloading while enjoy my turkey dinner tomorrow. I will be most thankful if I am able to get in and play at all/ I would love to just create a bunch of characters to see what I like the best although I feel like Imperial Agent is calling my name. I find this mildly surprising as I couldn't play a rogue in WOW to save my life but the IA just looks like so much fun with the sneakiness and exploding bots.
I also got Fallen Earth updated for the first time in three months and have been playing it a little bit. I love the post apocalyptic world and it is such a cool place and the crafting is still crazy awesome but I get overwhelmed in that game because I want to do so much but my resources seem limited. Its basically the gist of the game but we'll see.
I almost forgot I even logged into WOW on a free account because someone reminded me they redid the Troll starting area. I only did one quest because that's about all that I can handle WOW but it seemed cool. I might log in once and awhile just to reminisce.
Well that's enough for now. If I get any playtime in the beta I'll try to post my thoughts on it.

It seems to SWTOR powers that be are getting ready to do some stress testing because a lot of people have been getting the you're in the beta test emails. So much so that their site is down.

Now if this was the first test they failed, lol. You would think being able to keep your own page up would be one of the first things to do, but they're new. Blizzards page used to crash all the time when they were down while people were checking realm status so nothing to see here please move along.I am kind of getting excited though. The most interesting change I can tell is that you can rearrange the orders your characters are in on the login screen. People have been asking for that for years so at least somebody was listening, lol. I still had no ambition to do anything quest related. I did get to talk to some of my friends which was great (Hi Swan, Grimm, Dedi, Pintail, Drusky, Lafrentz and everybody else). I think part of the problem for me is the underwater zone. I logged unto my Shaman there and I just logged right out I didn't want anything to do with that zone. I also didn't want to queue up for anything although I thought I might hit the headless horseman for old times sake. I have a few days left so I'm sure I will get back in at least once more for old times sake and to see if some of the other peeps are logged on so I can say hey. Typeatyalater

So, I was looking at my stats since blogger started its own built-in option and found out my most popular post ever is..... The Argent Quartermasters Location with 897 views in a little over a year. While I am glad I am a good mapquest for the folks out there what I am really glad to note is the second most viewed post, it is my 200th post which was an excellent guest post from one of my favorite bloggers and friend Grimmtooth. Who continues to be a much more prolific blogger than myself and churns out entertaining info on a regular basis. A fun look back

How is the blogosphere? It has been a long time since I've posted anything. I have been spending most of my time looking for a house to buy and concentrating on my large music library. I have a passion for music and as I was converting all my music to a digital format it took up a lot of my free time. I still haven't been gaming, but I did see the release date on SWTOR is in Dec. I have been wanting to play it for a long time but its been so long to get here I don't know if I still want to jump into that kind of game again. Its still gonna have some grind to slog through and you'll have to deal with the lowest common denominator to get anything done. I have begun to question whether I am interested in getting into another subscription MMO where I will feel compelled to play because I am paying $15/mo to play. I have spent very little time gaming the last few weeks. I ran a 5k last week and did some training for that. Work has been extra crazy so that hasn't made it easy. I have also started the process of looking to buy a house so I spend quite a bit of time looking at houses and calculating my finances. So when I get some time I will get some gaming on and get back to blogging but when that is? No Idea, so have some fun out there for me.

I just read this article 'World of Warcraft' ... your first hit is now free over at MSNBC. I know WOW has been bleeding subscribers left and right but this seems like a drastic move unless they are planning on announcing their new MMO this year. The first 20 levels free is quite a ploy. I am curious what other limits they are going to impose on the F2P players. It is amazing though, I bet it will get those subscriber numbers up pretty quick because a lot of people will play just because its free. I mean WOW is probably the most polished and accessible MMO out so getting people in the door is really the key. I started on the trial way back when and got hooked in for years, if this lets people do low level pvp and and mail stuff and join guilds they may be on to something if it is limited like their trial membership then I don't think it will make much of a difference in the long run. Its not enough to get me to sub back in but I was just given 7 free days so who knows stranger things have happened.

I am still playing Fallen Earth! It just keeps me coming back. the crafting that keeps running even when your logged off is a nice change. It takes a little getting used to not getting your crafted items quickly but being able to craft while your out and about or to queue up a bunch of stuff and log off and then its done when you log back on is awesome. I am playing 2 toons so I haven't really moved up in levels much they are 8 and 10. I have mostly been working the quests and geeking out on the crafting. I haven't even gotten in a group for anything yet but I might try some of the PVP before I move to the next bracket. I am curious how it works. Whats everyone else up to a lot of the blogs I follow have been real quiet lately too. I guess I have to pick up some of the slack, lol. Have fun out there whatever you play

I've been working my way along in Fallen Earth. I started my first toon in a little toon called Midway and at level 8 am working in Odenville. Most of my gear is crafted. The crafting system in this game is so deep and I spend as much time trying to get mats for crafting as I do doing quests.

Also thats my horse in the back ground, lol.

It feels like the old days with server downtime. I can't even remember the last time I tried to log in to Wow and it was down outside of maintenance. I actually don't mind, I have plenty of stuff to do outside of the game its actually oddly comforting. I was able to get to level 7 last night. I am still working on crafting mostly. I was able to train my upgraded horse last night so I now have a mount with storage on it, woot! Its nice, because getting the inventory system down is a real challenge. I think what I am really enjoying about Fallen Earth is I have so much to learn and find out. I felt like everything in Wow was just the same thing over and over again, so its nice to have a bunch of different things to do.

There are a couple of sites that show promise for Fallen Earth but it looks like they have not been updated much lately. The Last Bunker is a item database in the vein a wowhead but there hasn't been much activity or updates in the last 6 months. The Fallen Earth Wiki is another site with some good information but looks to have fallen behind by about that much time too. If I really get into this game full bore I am thinking of contributing to The Last Bunker at least, it doesn't even have a listing for Burning Cactus, that just seems wrong to me, lol. Well we'll see how it goes. I did get to level 6 though go me. Have fun out there!

You can never escape: Extended Maintenance :(

Its Tuesday what does that mean, extended maintenance of course. No matter where I go I can't escape Tuesday maintenance. So I am stuck a level five peon in the Fallen Earth starting area. I have mostly been working on gathering and crafting to try to get a handle on the process. I have a feeling I will be creating a new toon once I kind of have a system down and use this as my farming machine. I have him as a melee dual wielder right now. Its been working pretty good, mostly because I don't like switching weapons in combat. I don't have my bars setup to do anything useful really and I am not used to the key commands so I just go til they are dead or I am lol.

I have long wanted to give Fallen Earth another shot as I had tried the trial a while back but was still too deep into my WOW addiction to really give it a chance. Its lack of polish at the time was also slightly off-putting but I did enjoy parts of it and wish I could have supported it along with WOW. Well I figured now that I am not playing WOW I would give it another try and I have to say the game is much more polished. I also was surprised at how lively it was there is a fairly good sized community on most of the time, and everyone seems really helpful. I have been having trouble finding resources outside the game that are up to date though, where is the wowhead for Fallen Earth. I will have to say though the variety of options available in game is probably enough to get me to sub for a little while and see if I can get into the game. More to come on my "first" impressions and screenshots as soon as I figure out how to take them lol.

Its not even the same game anymore...

I decided to see if I could bring up any nostalgic moments in game before my sub ran out so I went to the area I probably spent my most time in game the Western Plaguelands. I used to spend hours killing undead there, it wasn't so much farming as I was a Paladin and back in the day when pallies had such a limited arsenal the extra attacks against undead made me feel like a badass. I loved killing undead, it was my one true passion in game all the way into Icecrown. Well Sorrow Hill where I spent so much time killing has finally been cleared, and you can basically just walk up to Araj the Summoner without even trying. That made me sad to see. I used to go in with all my toons who could barely hack it in the plaguelands and do surgical strikes on the undead until I could clear a path to him. A true test of skill. I would even work with horde doing the same thing on my old pvp server, such was my hate for the undead. I don't even recognize the game I played for so long anymore. Now don't get me wrong the new leveling quests are fun and the game needed a makeover something fierce but, I think it lost some of its heart and soul over the years. You look at each patch and the nerfs are not usually that significant but if you go back somewhere you have not been in quite a while the complete lack of challenge in certain areas that used to be true tests is really disappointing to me. Well I guess I had one more rant in me after all lol. We'll see what I do going forward from here Thanks for reading.

I am paid up for only 2 more days

I decided since I had only logged in once in the last month it wasn't worth it to keep paying for WOW. I don't know if this is a permanent goodbye or just a temporary leave of absence. I find I have been spending more time reading and catching up on things from Netflix and playing games on the Xbox. I logged in today thinking I would do some of the stuff I always said I wanted to do before I stopped playing. I lasted about 45 min before I got bored. After having been a Raider and pushing to topple bosses and then burning out I just can't get into the casual play style of WOW. I also have no ambition to push myself to get geared up to do any Raiding, as I get so frustrated with randoms and very few of my friends play any more and are all spread out over different servers. I will probably log in a couple times in the next couple days to see if I can catch anybody online to update contact info but after that I don't know what my gaming plans will be. ToR has had me curious for a long time so I might give it a try when it comes out. I may try some of the free-to-play MMO's out there now see if something grabs me. Any good ideas?

I am slow to update. The last few weeks have been a blur. I have a real job again. Woot!! It has been a long time coming. This is my third week and because of some timely vacations I am on call this week. I have been rudely awoken in the middle of the night the last two nights and was on call for a total of 35 seconds before my first call tonight. I am burnt to no end but it is totally worth it. I am enjoying the new job completely and its fantastic. I will be glad to get back to a normal sleep schedule next week :)

One of my buddies was talking about his toon and how some of his upgrades were hard to come by and he had been looking at Wowheroes to see where he needed to go and I realised I had not been there in months. I used to go there all the time, updating my large army of alts, and all the of level toons in the guild, planning out where to grind for certain pieces of gear, it all seems like another life. I am glad that it is there and I am glad my friend is using it to help him out and I'm sure one day when I look at my gear and go why do I have that crappy bracer where can I get a better one I will one day visit there as well, but until then I am really just enjoying the uber-casual climb up the ranks. I am having fun and the Effers are a blast to hang out with. That is all, K Out!

Youbethca is 82!

Its been a long time since I did a ding post. I am slowly working my Shammy up to 85 over with the Effers. They had a Jeopardy Fishing Party yesterday which was pretty funny. I forgot how much fun just hanging out in vent with the guild can be. The bunnies only get into vent during raids, and when I was in the Corsairs we were in vent all the time whenever we were online, sometimes even when were not in Wow. It was good to here Grimm again he had been gone from the Bunnies for a while I'm glad he invited me over to their guild, everyone has been great. I hope I can contribute more than a few fish to the cause someday.

Wow 6 posts in a month I must be enjoying the scenery again

I haven't posted this much in a month since last July. I would like to say its because I have something to say finally, but mostly I think its just I am having fun again and the game kind of feels new again and I am taking my time to explore it rather than just speed through everything and miss out on the little things. I find myself reading quests and taking my time to get things done. I am jumping between characters frequently as well. I also am having a blast hanging with the Effers they know how to keep it fun and it sounds like they are making a little progress too. I am not focused on that right now so its not something I am paying a lot of attention to. But much fun is being had by most as far as I can tell :)

Its weird not knowing what to do

Having been MT for quite some time I used to do a lot of research and practice runs and all kinds of things so that I would try to know what was going to happen before it actually happened. Well, as I have not entered a dungeon in a couple months and have run the Cata ones 1-3 times at most I have no bloomin idea whats going on or whats happening during any of the fights now. In a way its kind of refreshing and as I was in as damage I just did what I was told. Its also a little annoying though, because I expect better from myself. I like to be able to perform my role to the best of my ability no matter my gear level. I am sure they will all become easy and repetitive soon enough but for now its a fascinating look at how I am playing the game from this new perspective.

I still dig it, I may level my new DK strictly with mining and incidental combat (leave me alone mob standing 20 feet from the mine you can't mine it anyways). Its fun just running around listening in guild chat and just enjoying the game again. I am pretty sure I am gonna transfer my Shammy over to be my feeder toon. He is still only 80 but I like playing him and I am pretty good at it so if I put in a little effort I might be a decent backup lol. Who needs cannon fodder "We Do, We Do!!" I only have one plan and thats to have fun, everything else is gravy boats.

Todays JC Daily: Nibbler No!

I don't know if its the same for everyone on the server or if its random for everyone. I decided to log over on to my old toons to see what I was doing and figured I would at least do the JC daily. It was easy so that was a bonus :) Mostly it makes me wonder what I am going to do. I am really enjoying the new leveling so I will keep going on my new toons but it would be nice to have a toon I could think about getting ready for raiding. I am wondering what role I would best provide and still have fun? I have extensive experience in endgame content as a prot/ret pally but I have almost zero interest in playing him right now. I have also done some raiding as Elem/Enhc Shammy, Boomkin/Tree, and Disc/Holy priest. I have also maxed out every class except rogue its a very interesting conundrum really. The Boomkin is 85 and pretty far along in enchanting everything else is in 80/81 limbo. Well I will see how it goes, have fun out there everyone.

Back in the game!

Well I logged back in setup my addons and created a couple new characters over on Grimms server. I am now a member of Eff the Ineffable. It seems like an awesome place to hang out, guild chat was busy without being annoying, everybody seemed pretty cool and there are some much more well known bloggers than me. I almost had a bit of a Fanboy moment when I heard who one of our guildies was, but I restrained myself. I was shocked someone in the guild besides Grimm had actually heard of me. First time in game someone I didn't know or contact first actually had heard of me. I have to admit that was kind of cool. So we will see how the return to the world (of warcraft) goes but for now fun is the rule, and tonight was pretty fun. I ran thorough the new Gnome starting area which is pretty well done if I must say, a little short compared to the newest races but you can't have everything lol. I am not quite ready to commit to transferring anything over but we'll see how it goes. So anyways, its good to be back

I wonder when it will be time for people to stop following me, will they remember me fondly or just see that I haven't posted in so long they should just clear me off to make room. I actually have not had Wow installed for over a week now. I had to re-image my PC because I could not install or un-install any software. I have obviously been spending time getting my PC back how I like it but if I really had wanted too I could have gotten it done by now. I have been waiting for that real urge to play that I had when I would go to midnight releases and take days off of work to play new content. Now, looking at that last statement maybe its healthier not to do that but I never let it consume me completely it was always just a lot of fun. I seem to be missing that. My friends are split all over different servers and my current guild hasn't done anything new yet I have lost my desire to level alts like I used too. I just don't enjoy it as much. I am paid up through the middle of April I think so I am sure I will get back on soon enough but I just don't care as much as I used too. I hope everyone else out there is still enjoying themselves.

I was trying to do my daily ritual of logging in long enough to do the JC'ing daily and then see if I feel like doing anything else (99% of the time this last month that has been a no). I did get mistrk to 81 strictly from mining runs to feed my JC who also got to 81 just by doing the daily, its a good relationship :). I have done a little on my shammy and warrior who are both about half way to 81, one in each of the starting zones. I do like one quest at a time, lol. I have made about 10k gold from selling gems without really trying so that has been for the good. I spent some of that leveling my enchanting but not a lot because those mats are still outrageous. I am curious, why am I just not into the game right now? Is it because the group isn't doing anything, is it because my sponser into the guild has jumped ship (for very good reasons, I don't blame him, I'm just saying), I actually recruited half my old guild to come with me and now I am never on. I feel a little bad about that but not bad enough to force me to play more, hahaha. Is it because I stopped tanking, I never really thought of that but I have not tanked anything since the burnout got me and I used to love tanking, the challenges of it really pushed me in game. Maybe I'll have to tank something and see if it brings back the old spark a little bit.

Its been a while. I don't know what it is but I seem to have lost that crazy desire to level like a madman. I got Chow to 84 fairly quickly and was working in Uldum which is very cool, and I just stopped. I don't know why, its just I don't feel any great need to start grinding out heroics for gear just yet. In fact I have barely been logging on I do my daily JC'ing daily on my mage and that's about it, Netflix and my xbox have been pulling me away from Wow with relative ease. I love TV on DVD and I have been catching up on a bunch of TV lately. I also started playing Fallout: New Vegas which has been crazy addictive to me. I think I am just into the whole dystopian wasteland thing right now, always have been honestly. Its making me think of jumping into Fallen Earth again because its basically Fallout the MMO. They are doing a free month trial right now so I am really tempted. I dusted off Mistrk recently to do mining runs because he can fly faster then my other toons and mining is really competitive out there right now. Well that's all I got right now, til the next thought pops in my head.

I am really getting ready for Cata I swear...

Work has been crazy lately and since I am the new guy I am trying to make a good impression and trying to learn a bunch of stuff. So I have just had no blogging inspiration my only inspiration has been sleep, lol. I am getting most of my toons out of Northrend and finding good places to start off the new expansion. I am doing a few heroics here and there to make sure I at least have some points to spend when I get to 85. I have been trying to really work my Boomkin as it is my intention for him to be my main. I say intention because there was a point before Wrath where my hunter almost became my main and then the giant BM nerf of '08 hit and I didn't touch my hunter for like 8 months so anything can still happen, but I am really liking where my boomkin is right now and with my mostly unenthusiastic approach to my Pally the main switch is currently a go! I have been filling my hunters stable now that he can have almost 30 pets so that has been fun. My next pet: Monkey :)

The Plaguelands I Knew You When...

I hope everyone enjoyed my guest post as much as I did, Grimm is not only a good friend but I feel one of the most entertaining bloggers working today. I waited until now to let his post sit at the top so as many people as possible could read it and because you all know by now I am a lazy lazy blogger and deep in the waiting for Cataclysm to drop already.

So let's get started!

The runners up

I have not been playing as long as my friend Grimm as I started right as Burning Crusade started. I was willing to include lands from both continents because I have grown quite fond of the old world. I am a leveler at heart and have spent quite a lot of time there. I have a few in my mind that really stick out though

- Azuremyst Isle. Having leveled a toon to 80 with every alliance race and all the horde ones at least through the starting area, I have got to give Blizzard a hand. They saw what worked and what didn't and made their newest starting areas an amazingly more concise and enjoyable ride getting you out into the world. I was so fond of Azuremyst I actually take any new alliance toon I start there
- Dun Morogh. This is probably mostly because I started my first toon there but I always remember how I felt the first time I came up to Ironforge a castle in the mountain just seemed so amazing and all the dwarves are so much more engaging as NPC's to me, but that just might be the laugh.
- Feralas. If I had not leveled a horde toon through there this might not have been close because its awfully skimpy for alliance but its such an amazing zone to go through and the contrast from thousand needles on one end and the giants on the coast on the other end really got me.

But the winner is

The Plaguelands are going to be lumped together in this case because they are so intertwined and have so many crossing paths and quests that you can't really separate them fairly. My first toon was my pally and I leveled him up as ret when ret was still mostly a joke. I ran a few dungeons with my small guild of friends but as they were all used to the old game I was stuck healing all the time. I actually didn't mind but that's another story, my whole opinion of what my toon could do changed when I got to the Plaguelands, I had a fear I could use I had exorcism and holy wrath I all of the sudden was a one man wrecking machine killing undead at a pace I never imagined possible. I probably leveled 50 to 53 strictly killing undead in the Eastern Plaguelands I was enthralled and will always remember how much fun that was.
Secondly I will always remember my first trip to Eastern Plaguelands my friend and I who played together a lot while we were leveling were exploring in the Hinterlands at level 45 and we found the hidden trail to the plaguelands and saw a lake so we figured we better swim across see whats on the other side. We ran into a 55 Spider ( a skull to us though) and what basically became our first raid boss he was a shaman and me on my pally we took turns healing each other and beating on the thing and he used his ankh and I ran back from the graveyard from across the pond but we slayed the spider we didn't know its level and we bragged about it for a long time that might be my favorite accomplishment of all time in game since neither of us really knew what we were doing .
Undead, can I even say enough about that I love to kill me some zombies :)

Chromie, Even if I didn't know she was a dragon I was drawn to her time paradox ideas

Araj the Summoner, How many times have you killed him. I would stop by at 70 and help people kill him I enjoyed it so much. He was such a challenge surrounded by so much mess. I always found particular joy in being able to pick off stuff around him until I cleared a path.

Capturing the last tower in the Western Plaguelands and flying back on the ghostly gryphon's, always had a fun time with the towers on our old PVP server

The outdoor raid in Darrowshire was amazing, I don't know if its still there or not I doubt it but I had so much fun even outleveling it as the massive groups of horde came down and tried to take us out. It was just me and one other guy but you could rez and come back into the fight so we just got back in the fight after the couple times we died.

So there you have it my favorite zone which as of today is no longer the same any more. I will miss it but I always have my fond memories :)

Hiya! My name's Grimmtooth; I have a blog, which is how I first met Mr. K. It's a long story, but the upshot is that, through that blog, my guild found a tank (and friends), and K found a new home. From the moment he first ripped off his shirt and hollered IT'S CLOBBERING TIME, BISHES as he flung his Captain America at Marrowgar, we knew we had found a soulmate.

So what ya doing over here, Grimm?

Glad you asked, odd voice in my head!

This blog post marks K's 200th, and he did me the very great honor of asking me to contribute a guest piece to help commemorate that occasion. When asked what kind of post he had in mind, he thought about it and then replied that he thought that it would be good to consider our favorite zones, the two of us, here in the twilight before the Cataclysm changes everything. I thought that was a great idea.

So let's get started!

The runners up

There are actually so many lovely zones to choose from, but right off the bat I'm going to rule out anything on Kalimdor proper, because my stars and garters, they hate us over there. Ferelas gets extra points for the fail that is the ferry to Feathermoon.
Outland and Northrend are ruled out for now since they're not going to get the whammy, though if they were, Nagrand and Zul'drak would be in the running.
Looking at what is called the Eastern Kingdoms, here are the contenders and why they didn't make it.

Plaguelands (both) – I love the lore. I have less love for the FP placement, though WPL improved moderately a couple of patches ago, in that respect.

Loch Modan – if not for the unfortunate placement of the lone flight point, this would have won, hands down. The Valley of Kings was my blog header for years.

Duskwood – another favorite, yet again the flight point just makes it a pain for everyone. And that big empty subzone in the middle means you go around for just about anything. Still, it was close.

Stranglethorn – even with all the annoyances that this zone produces, it will live forever in story and song. Honestly, it would have made the cut if it wasn't for the fact that we're all sick of looking at it after around 20 or so levels.

And the winner is

Westfall comes perilously close to being knocked off the list due to the location of its sole flight point, but only if you fail to realize that Sentinel Hill really isn't in the southern end of the zone – it actually is kinda central to the zone.This is the first serious zone you hit as a newbie human, and eventually I ensured all my toons hit this zone up when appropriate. So much to see and do and so many rewards! Here are a few of the high points for me.

Practically serves as a second flight point for Duskwood – a lot easier to fly there and hike over to Raven Hill than it is to go overland from Darkshire.

No serious travel obstacles. You don't have to go around things like lakes or big empty subzones with elite green dragons in them. Going from quest hub to quest hub is pretty much a straight line.

Central to the theme unifying the four southern Alliance zones (the Defias).

This is likely where your caster's first wand will drop.

Great for skilling herbalism, fishing, cooking, tailoring, and mining!

The first instance (by design) that Alliance toons will see, Deadmines sets the bar high and holds up well against stiff competition.

Murlocs! Lots and lots of murlocs! I swear, by the time you finish this zone, "Mrrrrrglgrlgrlglrgl!" will set you right off.

Just about a perfect fit for the target level, though some quests are a little antiquated now.

The chicken!

The Messenger – one of the few times you see your fellow players playing cooperatively and calling him out when they see him.

Escorting the Traitor
– one of the few escort quests I appreciate – once you start the quest, just call out that you're inbound and you'll likely find nothing alive in Moonbrook by the time you get there. I imagine this would be different on a PvP server since Horde can probably grief you.

Looking forward to after the Cataclysm, I know this zone gets some love. I think they finally finished putting that roof on, and possibly they ran out of Murloc eyes. The Twilight guys also appear to have blown it big-time in the mines. But, otherwise, this zone looks to remain a central part of Alliance questing.

Hopefully, changes to Loch Modan will make that zone as central to the Dwarven story as this zone is to the Human.

I have been in game a little bit this week. Just trying to take it all in. I haven't even logged in on my pally yet. Only my Boomkin is fully gemmed, talented, glyphed, regemmed and reforged. I am not sure all of those are exactly the way I want them and I have to get new boot made because a while back I had the cloth boots made and now with Leather Specialization I am missing out on that boost, but without really knowing what I was doing I dropped almost 10k on Raz in the weekly. I think once I get my rotation down well I will really be blowing stuff up big time. I have logged onto my shammy, mage, hunter, and priest as well and am in the process of getting them ready to do stuff but I haven't even logged into my pally, warrior, dk, or warlock. The warlocks and pallys in guild have not been very happy about there toons so I have been a little tentative. I don't play my warrior or dk much so no hurry there lol. I have plusses and minuses on the new things but I'm not ready to get real in depth with it I will just leave you with two thoughts.

XP from herbing, I kind of like it but in a way it feels like a bit too much I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
I am a huge fan of reforging. I think it might be a little too cheap cause for 10 gold that is a no brainer, and I kind of thought it would be something that you would need to work for but I'm not gonna complain because it is working out great for me :)

Question: How will I feel if we don't kill the Lich King before Cata

Yes I know everybodys killed Lich King already besides me what have I been doing. Well with our inconsistent raid team, our very small raiding window and having never extended a raid, we have only gotten 9/12 and have taken a couple shots at Blood Queen. Now this isn't a knock on my team we do the best we can with what we've got, but its getting pretty close to the finish line and unless we get real serious real quick we are probably not going to get the Lich King down before its expansion time. Now as ICC is the first raid I have been in where I have been working current content I don't have a lot of complaining to do. I am blessed to have found such a great home when I was basically looking to start over fresh. I like to think I have been a good contributor, and that my guild is as glad to have me as I am to be apart of their group. There are some really good players in our guild and we have some amazing people who keep every day online entertaining. I don't think there could possibly be a better place for me. I get just the right amount of raiding and free time. We are not hard core but we put forth a great effort when we do take our shots. I guess to answer my own question I will be happy to have given it my shot and be thankful I was at least having a good time all the way there. I would never have imagined even being this close when my old guild just gave up when we had a little trouble with Gluth. I have seen a lot of Ulduar, as much of ToC as I want, lol, and killed most of the bosses in ICC. Its been an amazing run and I think with all this experience we might make some real noise in Cataclysm.

Been busy and still not much new

I know my posting has really fallen off lately. I started a temp job which has been great but has left me drained and I'd rather just play or watch a movie or something then think about posting and I have always said "Post when you want to!" Which I stand by for myself too. We did down Princes last night so that was fun we brought someone with some experience so that helped quite a bit. They did have a different strategy on Putricide then we usually use that took up most of our night figuring out. I was pretty disappointed in that actually and I think it was partially that other persons fault on our first wipe because they didn't work with our strategy which has been getting pretty close to a one shot the last few weeks for us. Now I bet we'll be slogging through this different strategy slowing us down for a few weeks. I have been trying really hard to get through the first sets of bosses really quickly so we can really put in some good attempts on the fights we need work on. Well we'll see how it goes thats about all I got typeatyalater

I'm Alive!!

I just haven't had that urge to spill my guts to the interwebz. I have a new temp job that makes me get up early (for me) in the morning and thats been sapping my energy. Our raiding has xontinued for the most part we are 8/12 in group 1, and just moved to 6/12 in group 2. There some mixing of the groups from our original group 1 but its been pretty productive. My mage Eatfloor made 80 over the weekend giving me 9 80's every class but rogue. Considering my highest level rogue is currently a level 2 bank alt that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon. I have found that leveling is what continues to draw me in. I get burnt out on leveling here and there but I always seem to find a way to get caught up in another alts trip to the endgame. I think my 73 hunter will soon be my first class with 2 80's. I have been a huge fan of hunters for a long time. I have 6 or 7 on various servers between 19 and 80. I used to be really into researching what pets had what skills to be taught what pets you had to catch to train your current pets. I understand why they simplified the process but it really gutted a lot of the work I put in on my first hunter and when they classed pets up it seems like all the pets I liked were nerfed or changed and I've never gotten back into my original hunter since then I do love leveling them and pvping with them though. Having a pet with you seems so much more RPG to me and it seems much more immersive when I am leveling my hunters. I don't really have any set goals I'm trying to achieve in game. I want to finish ICC or at least get to the Lick King before Cata. If I see the fight I think that would be enough for me. All my toons are leveled up. I am working on gearing my 5th or 6th alt which gets old pretty fast and I am trying to get into pvp but I just haven't gotten that spark lately maybe being on a PVE server has quenched my rage for the horde. There was always a lot of need to pvp after getting ganked while leveling that I just don't fear anymore. I hope that they have more Wintergrasp like elements in Cataclysm as its really been the only pvp I've done on any kind of regular basis in this expansion. Well I guess I had a few things to say after all. :)

I've been trying to finish Reg Halls Of Reflection on my warlock

He doesn't have good enough gear to get in heroic according to lfg so I was trying to do it on regular to finish the quest chain. I got in a group we killed the first 2 bosses easily enough and the shield didn't drop so of course the tank bailed so he could re-queue. a couple of us waited 10 minutes or so, but when we didn't get anyone it fell apart. So I re-queued. I got the same tank with a whole different group. Blow through the first 2 bosses, no shield, he drops group again. Now this time I was with a very patient group. Everyone waited 35 minutes and we didn't get another tank, so everyone said thanks but I've got other things to do. I really appreciated that and they were great we talked about a bunch of stuff while we were waiting, they were a great group. I understand why the tank did it. but I would just like to put this out there. Its only another 10 minutes max, you really could help out everyone else and maybe get some good karma points for yourself towards getting the shield to drop.

We are still working on ICC and I am still playing a wide variety of my toons. I have my mage almost 78 and am having a blast having my Boomkin over here. I even got my boomkin in our 2nd raid team. He does some pretty good dps if I do say so. I also healed in tree spec with him for the first time ever. It was on festergut. I hadn't actually healed on my druid since a failed heroic at 70 while still boomkin specced. We were having some trouble keeping the tanks up so I offered my newly dual-specced services. It worked out but I really didn't feel like I was that needed once I was there. It seemed really easy although we barely beat the enrage so my dps was missed :) Just plugging away having fun and killing stuff.

It turns out all I needed to do was transfer my Boomkin over and it cured all my ills. Its weird because it has gotten me playing all my other toons more too. I have been running more in the last week then I think I had in the three weeks previous. We started our second raid team up again and I got my priest in there it was kind of fun. I now have 6 80's on the server and my mage is 77 making great progress through. I am so glad you can start the tournament at 77 it really helps make for speedy leveling. My mage already has 50 triumph emblems thanks to the daily random dungeon. I have been leveling frost and I am going to keep a frost spec because right now it just works so well for me. I am consistently hitting 2200-2400 dps at 77 Deep Freeze really makes Frost a strong spec and I have gotten crits as high as 12000 with it already. I like big numbers :)

PS when you haven't been in ToC 10 for a few months it can be brutal when they put the weekly in there.

It's not that easy to gear up your alts.

Well it is but trying to do the heroic grind on some of my alts just makes me not want to play. I did a little math and to get the 4 piece t9 and the triumph helm it would take you 59 heroic dungeons to get that done. I can barely do one or two before I start losing my marbles I've done them all so many times. Normally this leads me to playing my alts but now that they are all in Northrend its more of the same dungeons I've run so many times I just can't do them anymore and quests I've done 5 or 6 times that don't interest me right now. I have 4 71-76 alts I don't really feel like playing much and 8 80's 3 who don't really need gear and 5 that need so much it gets frustrating thinking about grinding out more. So yes epics may be falling from the sky but just because they are doesn't make getting them really that fast or very much fun. I almost feel like I should start an arena team like I did in BC but I haven't been doing any pvp so I don't have any pvp gear and thinking about grinding for it well see above lol. I do miss bg's a little bit so maybe I will do a little pvp and see if that feels more fun.

They taunted me with the Frigid Frostling. I got it on my Druid on my old server the first day of the holiday. I just play him because he's one of my favorite toons and I have an insane amount of fun being a boomkin. I didn't transfer him because I still wanted to have one decently geared toon over there to be able to run stuff with a few of my friends who still have toons there. So anyway got the frigid frostling first day, and then proceeded to run it on my main everyday for the rest of the holiday (except for this weekend as I was out of town visiting friends and attending a wedding, and had a great time). Of course no luck. I also missed a day when Blizzard had our server down for 24 hours (thanks for doing that during a holiday, grrr). Now I am not crazy pet collector or anything but I have spent a good amount of time collecting them and have 57 pets (some of you probably think that is crazy, but trust me I know someone who is upset there is not an achievement for 125 pets). I was collecting pets before the had the cool pet tab and had a bag with a bunch of pets in it and carried some of my favorites with me all the time. I even used to have a thing where I would bring out mini-wing when were having a hard time because it almost always brought us good luck. So nothing game breaking by any means but it is a cool pet and I was just disappointed that I couldn't get it this year. I will more than likely still be playing next year but hey you never know(TOR could have a mighty pull).

The end of June happens to coincide with me knowing 14(maybe more) people with birthdays in a 3 week period, plus I am going to a wedding next weekend so I have a ton of free time on my hands right. My Moms birthday was last week, three days after Fathers day and so I keep a busy end of June schedule. I know this so really its my own fault. I have not even hardly logged into WOW since Wednesday. I ran Ahune to try for the pet a couple times which thanks to the new LFD tool takes like 3 minutes. No luck but another week left so I'll keep trying.

We got Putricide down woot! The only 2 standing at the end were me and the OT Gracus. But it took an amazing effort from everyone involved to get there. We had a couple 1-2% wipes and we knew we had it. Phase 3 with all that slime is just a crazy mess. We are talking about taking a shot at Dreamwalker on Sunday. Very productive week for us :)

Random Dungeon Frost Lord!!

Adding the holiday boss to the LFD is awesome in my opinion. I killed the frost lord on 6 of my toons yesterday. I want to get my mage in but you have to be 78 and he is only 76 so I will have to push a little harder than I like. I have basically been leveling my mage one JC daily and one random dungeon a day. He already has like 44 triumph emblems. My mage has done almost all the other achievements for this holiday so if I can get him in I will have another Flame Warden which in my opinion is one of the coolest titles in the game. I keep it on my druid all the time. I was lucky enough to get the ice shard in the bag of my druid so he got the rock elemental pet who is really cool looking. I hope I can get it on my pally because he is my designated pet hoarder with maybe 60 pets and counting (although I have a friend who has 130+ I am never going to catch her). I got the patch update today. I am curious whether the new raid is really ready to go. I am a sucker for new content :)
Quick note: Happy Birthday to Gracus and Lafrentz in my guild they both have their birthday on the same day (today)!!

Mortigan The Lock.
For those of you that read Mortigan for the short time he was blogging you know he had a unique voice and was really hilarious. His post on rules of raiding was a widespread success. His blog is no longer up, and one of his last posts had to do with having a new addition to his family so I hope all is well with him.

WTFspaghetti - A Random Warcraft Blog
This blog was the one that actually got me to level my shaman. Always an awesome read. I hope they start posting again sometime. I miss the sense of humor and the people that commented always kept good post discussions going.

No More /Cheer.
Another blog that is gone from blogger I don't know what happened but the whole blog is gone. This was one of the bloggers who was one of my first commenter's and always had great comments and was very nice. Also had great posts too.

I know there are many more bloggers who have come and gone and some of them have also been great and amazing but as a blogger with a smaller following its the ones that I was an avid reader and commenter and always got great responses from them that I miss the most. We got Putricide to 16% last night. I think we will probably get him down next week if we blow through the first part as fast as we have been. I actually took my shaman in this week through the first 5 bosses. I got a ton of offspec gear lol. I did get a nice staff to use for a while too. I think I'm gonna start posting more regularly here too. I've started to get some ideas for posts and I want to get them all down before I forget them.

We are working on Putricide and we got him somewhere around 50% on Thursday so we're getting there. Its an interesting fight with a lot of movement and avoiding stuff. Tanking him isn't to difficult once you figure out when to move him. I try to throw some damage at the oozes as I go by to position him on the other side. We just took a quick look at Dreamwalker, we were not prepared the adds come in on that fight fast and furious. We are really going to have to get a good system of priority on killing the adds. On a side note I haven't seen a drop in a couple weeks the two things I would like just don't seem to want to drop for me lol. I might get a chance to bring my shammy into the raid next week if everybodys on. That will be fun. I don't even care if I get any gear or anything I just want to see what I can do.

Who needs a life or My 8th 80

Its been a week or so but there she is. My only female toon over 19 lol. I will soon have an 80 of every class besides rogue (pshw we will speak of them no more) as my mage is 74. All you have to do is get layed off for a while and you too can have a boatload of 80's (not recommended). It took me quite a while to get my warrior to 80 as she was one of my first toons I created but it just never clicked with me until more recently and when a toon falls behind they don't get nearly as much attention as your main does. I have got her able to tank the easy heroics and run random on her every couple of days but with my Pally, Shammy, and Priest all very well geared they get the most attention and consideration for raid spots. I currently have no plans to push her into ubergeared territory. Most of my leveling will be put into my mage or my druid depending on what I feel like at the time. I also have my second hunter at 73 and my second alliance dk at 71 and my horde dk at 74 .I am getting a little burnt out on Northrend leveling honestly. There is a good variety and some fun quests but I hit the low to mid 70's and I just don't even want to login on those toons lol. Mostly I'll just do a random and maybe a daily or a quest or two while I wait and then switch. My horde dk has been on the bench for three months now as my friend and I that level together over there have not logged into them for a while. Tonight some more fun in ICC maybe we'll even kill Putricide(here's for hoping). Have fun out there everybody!

I am Replaceable. But I'm not too worried about it

I missed my first raid tonight since I transferred over here. I had a family get together and Tuesdays are the only night my Mom and her sisters can get to work. They got just as far without me as we usually do. Now I don't think they are going to replace me by any means. I think I bring a lot of good things to the raid team (not to brag, I'm just saying). I actually had mentioned rotating some other tanks in since I had gotten exalted with the Ashen Verdict. It would be interesting to see some of the fights instead of just looking at boss crotch or running from ooze lol. I also think its good to give some more people experienced in case someone can't make it, that keeps us from having to bail on a raid night. So good job with out me guys! I knew you could do it.

Rotface Down!! 6/12 in ICC10

It took a couple tries (we been working on him for a couple weeks now, lol), but he's down. We even poked Putricide in the nose a couple times to see what he was like. One of the really good things I think about taking ICC at our own pace it is that we are nowhere near looking at burnout yet. I see a bunch of bloggers complaining about it and I can understand if you are in a pro guild and plowed through everything then that could happen. I would much rather be doing it this way. We are having a great time (at least I am), and we get to spend a few nights a week with our friends killing bosses. I think we even have a legitimate shot at LK before Cata comes out. Will it be before the 35% buff, I don't know, but I don't care. So sure that will mean we are not as pro as the guilds that have done it already but as hard as some of these fights are I am going to be ecstatic no matter when it happens. So many of these fights are coordination and timing fights anyway that the gear only goes so far. So good job team!! We are kicking *** and taking names in our own way!

Well. We got Rotface down to 24% so we are making a little progress there, and team 2 is going back into Ulduar on Monday to see if we can make a push towards finishing it. So we have had some good raiding going on. We basically spent most of last night wiping on Rotface which can be kind of frustrating. I am tanking the oozes and I am starting to get better at it. I really need to find a better way to build the next big ooze after one explodes. I seem to do okay the first time but after the second ooze explodes we seem to get little oozes everywhere and I can't corral them. I watched a couple videos and might try something different next time. If anyone else out there knows a good strategy please feel free to elaborate. I'm all ears.

Team 2 rocks Ulduar!!

We started a second raid team this week working some undergeared toons and alts in Ulduar. It was a ton of fun. Seeing some of the fights in there from the dps side is way different. I think everybody had a good time and we pushed through the first 2 sections and the crazy cat lady in one night. I think our team 2 may do something our team one never got to do finish Ulduar. Which would be awesome because I would really like a chance to see the Yogg fight. I've heard that it is an insane fight and I am actually looking forward to seeing if we can do it. Tomorrow ICC and another chance to kill Rotface!!

We had an off night on Tuesday so we didn't get Saurfang down and we started a little late today but after taking out Saurfang on try 2 we took the first one of the ugly twins down. It took us a couple tries but its not really too bad. We only had enough time for one try on 'ol Rotface, lets just say it wasn't pretty. We are thinking about going back in later this weekend though to try to kill him. We haven't successfully gotten a third night in ICC yet so if we do this could be a major week for us. I am really proud of the team and would like to send out a big Woot to Tarna who OT'd in the stead of our normal OT and to Pintail who just transferred over this week and helped us down a new boss. Thanks a lot we couldn't have done it without you!!

Yes, still out there, we have been limited the last couple weeks with people not being available. Including myself as I had to move last week and only logged in once, which was really odd for me. I should be getting back to a more consistent schedule here soon. I also wanted to make a quick note welcoming some of my former guildies to the Bunnies. Drusky, and Pintail welcome, I think someone else is considering the move as well. Hopefully this will help us shore up our team and keep us from getting shorthanded on raid nights. I think they will enjoy being able to run some stuff they haven't had a chance to see yet as well. We are planning on getting them through some of Naxx and Ulduar to help get them acclimated to the current raiding game. Should be good times all around.

We've only taken a couple of shots at him so I don't really know what we're doing but we have had a couple of decent tries so it shouldn't take us too long. I am done chasing upgrades currently. I have gotten both the tanking crafted pieces done from the primordial saronite. I am broke and none of my toons have any Frost emblems anymore but it was worth it. I am not very squishy at all and I like it. I have been very lucky with drops out of ICC10 and have gotten everything I've wanted. I might try to get in a 25 pug just to see how it goes, I'm not a big fan of 25's or pugs for that matter lol but sometimes seeing things from a different perspective can give you some good insights.

We took down Saurfang again on Tuesday with a little more difficulty then last time but I think it was mostly our cocky attitudes and bad luck with our tree getting marked two tries in a row. We will be moving into the innards of the spire so to speak and taking on some new stuff so I hope we have fun with it and get some good tries in on some new bosses. It sure would be cool to get Festergut down. We'll see how it goes.

Updated rollcall: My toons or Critting you with a Walloftext

JuI thought I would start off with my Nath toons. My 80's Chowyunfat, Iamthetick, Newguy, Psychostick, Septictank. I barely log in on any of them anymore. Maybe once a month or so mostly out of nostalgia. I also have a 78 warrior Warriorbarbi, and a 71 mage Happymadison. I do plan to get them to 80 (or 85 depending on how long it takes, lol) just to know what every class besides rogue plays like at endgame (My highest rogue was 18 I just don't enjoy the playstyle). I think it helps to know what the other classes are capable of and gives me a better idea what they can bring to an encounter. I also really like leveling, it is one of my favorite parts of the game exploring and questing and sometimes just mindlessly killing for xp. When my employment situation gets more settled I intend to transfer Newguy, Psychostick, Warriorbabri, and Happymadison over to Alleria. I really don't want to level another priest and I miss having a higher level mage, and warlock, I also wouldn't mind having a tailor and an engineer since leveling those is kind of a pain.

Okay, so on to the real toons.
Mistrk: My tank, my original toon, the one who gets the majority of my attention. He is ready to kill Deathbringer Saurfang, my gear is right where I want it. the number of upgrades I am really looking for is very small, just the necklace off of Marrowgar, the bracers from the
aforementioned roadblock and just getting the 95 frost emblems for my next piece of t10 and farming primordial saronite on my other toons to craft the boots(1 down 4 to go). I have worked really hard to get to where I am with him now and I can't honestly think of an encounter I couldn't tank if given the chance.

Youbetcha: Formerly Surething on Nath my shammy is getting decently geared pushing some solid 3k+ dps for an alt, and is also a lot of fun, Lava burst crits can put a smile on your face when they go for 12k, he is my primary primordial saronite farmer right now since he is my only other 80 on Alleria but hopefully that won't be for too much longer.

Iamthetick: Version 2.0(I know fail on originality but I just like then name and I was sure I wasn't going to transfer the other one so) He is now level 70, I have started working him through Northrend but its going slower than I would like because I am really tired of leveling through Northrend. randoms help but at the low 70's you are stuck doing UK over and over again, ughh.

Lilangrydude: My DK is 71 and I am slowly leveling him as my second tank(third if you count warriorbabri, but she's on hiatus right now, lol). He is also my JC so I do get that daily done every day, he already has three epic patterns so that is going well. I am enjoying tanking with him right now because its pretty easy and most people appreciate seeing a good DK tank because they are the primary bad tank out there. Not that they are all bad it just seems more bad tank situations turn out to be DK's who just want a faster queue time but don't really know what they are doing.

Rootandnuke: My druid is moving fast (heirloom gear is crazy at the lower levels, 5 levels in a day is easy without really trying. Honestly I just like druids, they offer so many different options they just are fun. I only really enjoy being a boomkin though so hopefully I can get to that level quickly and get to the point where I am not oom all the time.

Septicktank: The only other toons I play at all are on Bloodscalp. I don't put a ton of time in over there but occasionally my friend Tom and I will level our High level horde toons together. we are both 74 and really looking forward to finishing the Wrathgate questline from the Horde perspective. My DK over here is purely damage as my friend has a warrior tank. makes for clearing content ultra quick with both of us.

Ibeatarse: My 44 horde hunter is an anomaly I wanted to level a horde toon and I am a big fan of hunters so he is a lot of fun. One thing about playing him though is I don't know where anything is on the hordeside so its way slower leveling. I go in spurts with him, but eventually he'll get leveled up because I am crazy.

Well thats the 14 toons I have put any real effort into. I have 40 created toons between 10 servers most of the others range from 1 to 10 as bank alts or toons to check out other servers. A couple are for when my other servers are down but that is a lot more rare than it used to be. Thinking about it the realms are way more stable then they used to be a couple years ago, looking at it I have a 14 on a server that used to up when Nath was down. I totally forgot about him. Its interesting to really look at all the toons you have out there when you have crazy altitis like I do.

Well that was extensive and a good look back. We are taking a shot at the roadblock tonight. I watched a couple videos to see some strategy's and so hopefully there will be a post tomorrow of our awesome victory (Yes and SS or it didn't happen lol).

I miss having more 80's

I used to have 6 80's on my old server. If I still had that I would have the primordial Saronite I need really quickly. I only have 2 and it is taking forever to get the frost emblems I need for those things. If I was working regularly I would transfer a couple more toons over but I just can't justify that with my finances the way they are. I do have a couple toons over 68 now so I will have 4 80's very soon and that will help I powerleveled their professions too so that they could supplement my needs. I now have max level Alchemy, Inscription, Herbalism, Mining, Blacksmithing, Jewelcrafting, and Enchanting(2 of them are herbalists because I am trying to make the darkmoon cards). I am really glad I moved to this server I have done things I never would have imagined if I hadn't (My old guild could not kill Gluth in Naxx). I am now knocking on the door of clearing the first wing in ICC. I have also made a ton of friends in my new guild and am really enjoying the game as much as I ever have. I did run a couple heroics with a couple people from my old guild Monday night. It was fun I hadn't gotten a chance to talk to them in a while and it was just good to hang out with them. Somethings never change though, I was looking at the one guys gems and he has totally fallen in love with crit gems. I even looked at some of his other toons and he has geared all his dps toons in crit gems. Its the strangest thing I've ever seen. I don't miss that at all. I know its just a game and maybe I take it a little too serious sometimes, but I play because I want to accomplish goals and to do that you kind of have to know what you're doing to maximize your toons potential. Some of my old guild members didn't feel it was necessary to do any checking on how to gear their toons. I think my next post will be a toon update. I have not done one in a while and some things are way different from the last time.

We are making some steady progress through ICC10 our group has had some really good nights in there. We finally killed the lady and did the jet-pack boat ride (best fight so far). I am starting a new job tomorrow, so that's cool. I'm slightly nervous but it should be good. I have to figure out what my new work schedule is gonna be because it might affect my raiding schedule, not sure yet though. I wanted to give my 2 cents on why I prefer 10mans to 25mans. I find the fights to be tuned much tighter and I think it builds such good team unity when you get through it, especially since we only run 10mans. I haven't seen a 25 man since Naxx and Sarth and honestly I don't miss it at all. Now if our guild did get bigger and wanted to try 25mans I wouldn't go "No way I don't do that" I'd give it a try for sure but pugging 25's just because they have better loot doesn't appeal to me at all. Well thats all I had on that.

We killed Marrowgar! I feel it is an awesome achievement for our guild and its members. It makes me very proud to be a member of Ordo Cuniculi Vorpali (Go Bunnies!!) Knowing that as a group we worked together and got him down was just awesome. I think this is just the thing to get us rolling knowing we can do it. It took us three nights to really iron out our strategy but on night 2 we got him down to 29k on our last try so we were pretty sure we could get him. This is why I transferred servers so I could experience things in game like this. I know we are not challenging the top guilds or anything but to be raiding current content and having fun doing it has just been awesome. I was even lucky enough to walk away with some shiny loot. So great work Bunnies and thanks for having me aboard!

Back again

Did my daily random on my shammy and got in a VH hold run. Easy right? well when someone starts it and the tank is dc'ed it gets sorta rough. Well we had a DK so he kinda tanked through wave 6. I say kinda because he wouldn't switch to frost presence so the Boomkin and I kept pulling aggro. halfway through the core-hound boss the Boomkin died and I had all the ag so I dropped my rock guy and started healing him and we beat it. We had voted to kick the dc'ed tank at wave four so we were in queue but no reinforcements showed and the DK bailed right after the boss. well our holy pally healer started tanking then (held ag way better than the DK too lol). After wave 7 the boomkin bailed so it was just me and Toz of Alexstraza. An awesome Holy paladin if there ever was one we 2-manned wave 7-10 until reinforcements arrived. I kept rooting them with my earthbind totem and doing damage whenever I could we were healing each other and just kept working away at them. So here's to you Toz, I wish you many good drops and easy pugs.

I've had some post ideas but nothing has really struck me so I have just left it. We have started clearing Voa weekly. The new boss isn't too hard we usually lose a couple people each try but that's just because we are basically right at the dps level for clearing it so the damage buff is pretty high when we get him down. I have been spending most of the rest of my game time on my alts. My Shaman is 76 and is easily pulling 2k dps on bosses, lava burst is crazy damage. I have also got my hunter to 45. Having played hunters on 4 servers it makes the leveling process really easy. I also want to get him leveled up so I can have an alchemist. I miss having an alchemist and its too expensive to transfer all your toons. My DK is also moving up. I got him to 66 and have been pushing his JC and enchanting soon he'll start getting his JC dailies done and start learning valuable patterns to help save me tons of gold a the AH. Scrolls of enchant are a huge moneymaker on the AH too. Its given me my biggest cushion in a while. Thats pretty much it just a small update.

There has not been any huge things going on in guild lately. The last couple of weeks its been get the weekly done and ..... Well we have done a few other things, my friend finally got his Champion of The Frozen Wastes title this week because he finally killed KT, yep KT never had gotten a full clear done before. He's even been further in ToC than me, I've seen him run against the Twin Valkyr and I've never been that far but he had never gotten in Naxx when it was the thing to do because well our guild was pretty raid dysfunctional back then (hence the new guild, Long live the Bunnies). Also we did Voa for the first time since I've transferred servers, I think they had some issues with it before I was here and I can understand that I remember having some fun pug encounters when Emalon first came out but its no big deal now with all the uber-gear and having a good strategy. So it was good to get in there and get some gear for some folks. So anyways I've been running my lowbie toons a lot more the last few weeks and once your able to get into Northrend dungeons you start getting emblems of triumph from the first random you do in a day so I have been getting quite a few of those on my shaman and on my warrior on my old server. I have been tanking a lot on my newest DK and on my warrior. It is way different from my pally. The DK is so dependant on death and decay that sometimes I have to wait til the cooldown is up so I can go on which you can tell that some of the dps will get all antsy on you and start pulling for you. My normal strategy for this though is just to let them die. I sometimes have to tell my healer that though because some of them are so good they can keep them alive even if I am trying to let them die. My warrior on the other hand is really good at snap aggro but it is much more of a struggle holding groups over time thunderclap is great for initial threat but it doesn't give you that constant threat of a consecrate or death and decay which leaves me doing a lot of cleaving and target switching to throw devastates out there. I can really see how warriors could be the kings of carpal tunnel from tanking. Well those are just my thoughts on the current happenings with me.

Not much to report really. We haven't really run anything in guild lately other than bashing our head against the wall in ICC10 and some adventures in heroics. I have been running some heroics and leveling some toons but not much exciting to report. I have a feeling though that we might make some progress this week. I should be getting my ring with the Ashen Verdict this week and I think we have a good group so before to long we'll start making some good progress and have some good boss kill stories going on.

Sorry I just had to get that out. I don't know what it is exactly that gets me but it seems like something goes wrong at just the wrong time every time I'm there. Somethings on cooldown or somebody pulls ag before I can get them, and if they get by me anybody else can easily be 1-2 shotted and consecrate doesn't do enough when they simply run on it for a second. Then that stupid hunter will disengage out and start shooting my healer and the mage will see someone and not come to the corner and will sit back there and blast away. Alright I don't even want to think about it anymore

By a band called Psychostick. Its a good one. I needed that. OK I'm better now. I am starting to enjoy some of the more challenging aspects of the new heroics. I have even started using some CC here and there to smooth out the process a bit here and there. I know that they listen now because all you could here about was the death of CC from the blogosphere for the last year so what did they do for these dungeons basically force-feed CC down our throats, casters all spread out around the room, there's no way I can gather up all those groups for my party to fast twitch their AOE button and smack-down the bad guys(Trust me I tried it wasn't pretty). That's all I guess I just needed to get that out of my system.

I am going to do better this time

I just thought I would post that I am in between contracts with my employer right now. During the summer when I wasn't working I really didn't post at all and I don't want to do that this time. I don't expect to not be working nearly as long this time but I can't say for sure. I have been playing sporadically. I played a ton right as the new year kicked off. I was on all the time for almost a week. I kind of burned myself out. I took a couple days away from WOW and it was good, reading and watching movies. I even downloaded the trial to Fallen Earth. It has some really entertaining parts and I can see that it is a pretty fun game. Its nowhere near as polished as WOW but how could it be being a new game and WOW has been out for 5+ years. It is easy to get into the storyline. I felt the controls were a little goofy but I changed some of the key binds and that made it a lot more familiar. I don't know if I'll play it much beyond the trial if at all but it was definitely interesting to play a different game since I barely play anything besides WOW anymore. The only thing I turn my xbox on for is instant view Netflix movies, which is awesome but I used to play a ton of console games, I have barely played any of them at all in the last 2 years. Mostly in WOW I've just been leveling alts. I am just so tired of dailies and I ran a ton of the random heroics I was just looking for something different. I do like running the low level dungeons with my alts although its probably 50-50 on whether you'll finish the dungeon or not.Well this got longer than I thought it would but I hadn't been on for a while so I guess that makes sense.

I have been busy and well I've been playing instead of blogging. I have done a few things in game though. That pic is of me with my new mount and pet. I planned ahead a little and got 50 mounts and 50 pets at the same time. I also like having the Champion of the Frozen Wastes title finally. I was really happy for us last week as we were finally able to kill Maly and get a bunch of people the title. We still are not having luck with Marrowgar but I think its mostly just positioning and practice. I have gotten a little tired of the random dungeons but I need to get back into it. I still would like a couple things from the triumph vendor and I could really start working on my dps gear too. I am also not a big fan of H HoR that place is kind of annoying.

My WOW year in review

Wow a lot has happened in the last year in WOW. I only wrote 39 posts in 08 but this year I've already done 116 posts. It almost seems like a different game at this point being in a new guild and raiding and thinking I've got a real shot at killing Arthas. I'm gonna break it up into sections and see where the last year took me.

January: I had only been 80 a short time and I was still running the regular instances to help gear up for heroics (right, who does that anymore, lol). I had my one 80 and was running with some of my friends who were still leveling up their toons to 80. Mostly January was me running regular Halls of Lightning and not getting the defense trinket.

February: I finally got that stupid trinket on my 16th try of Halls of Lightning that was probably the highlight of my month. I started running heroics with some guildies and worked on leveling a bunch of my alts (who now mostly sit on my old server abandoned). I was also deciding what my dual-specs were going to be for my toons.

March: This month was a really weird one for me as my account got hacked and that was an awesome experience, I also joined up with some friends to do the Arena Tournament which was actually alot of fun. Other than that I just leveled alts as my guild wasn't really doing much

April: The Corsairs finally stepped into a raid as a guild even if it was to 9man Voa and Sarth but at least it was something. We also started working on Naxx a little bit and got through Spider Wing and I thought we were on our way to start raiding, finally.

May: We mostly spent May wiping on Heigan. He was our nemesis and not being able to consistently down him was the beginning of the end of our raiding team. We did finally bring in a ringer to get us through Heigan but it was the beginning of the end. I also got layed off at the end of the month.

June, July, August: I'm lumping these together as I didn't really do much during this time but level my alts. We tried Gluth a couple of times as a guild but couldn't get him and a few people just decided they didn't want to raid anymore, or at least that's what it seemed like. I was layed off all summer so I basically just searched for jobs and played WOW when I could. A group of my guildies at the time had started leveling up horde toons on a different server and so our guild never seemed to have anybody on.

September: This was my triumphant return to blogging and working. The Brewfest event was going on so we killed ol' Coren Direbrew til I couldn't stand it anymore. I debated dual-speccing my priest Holy/Disc which I did and worked out well. This is also when I found out you can't skin low level rabbits anymore. I am still very perturbed by this.

October: My new beginning, as I joined my new guild. I was raiding, for real, I finally saw the inside of Ulduar and ToC. I learned alot and started having fun in game again and have been making a ton of new friends. We downed Sarth +1 a couple of times. We cleared through Naxx in record time a couple of times. Our most frustrating fight was Ignis because we trying to find a strategy that worked for us.

Novemeber: This was a month of learning new encounters as we failed on Malygos a couple of nights but had a victory over Onyxia on a different night so at least we keep working together and having fun while doing it. I also got my 6th 80 (mostly thanks to a summer of being layed off much easier to level alts in short amounts of time).

December: Its been a blur mostly with the holidays and seeing old friends and the new LFD giving me so many emblems they burn a hole in my pocket. We had a interesting first go against a overpowered Marrowgar and made even more progress through Ulduar. We did have on failboat night on Ony but you can't win them all. I even missed last nights run because a friend of mine from California was in town this week and it was the only night we were going to be able to hang out at all. I should be sporting my 4piece t9 for tanking tonight so maybe we'll see what we can do and kill some more raid bosses. I have also been running with a friend of mine on a different server and we have been running horde as of now we have 2 72 toons working on Northrend and being really tired of UK it seems to come up alot in LFD at level 71.

So there you have it another glorious wall of text from yours truly. I am so looking forward to the new year and having a lot more fun in game and meeting even more friends and writing more blog posts to entertain and amuse.

Mine turned out pretty good except for having to shovel part of my parents driveway so everybody could get in to park. Iowa has been having a really fun winter this year, not. I also went to see Avatar over the weekend with my cousin and have to say it is pretty good. I would definitely recommend it if you're curious. I did get in some WOW time as well and am slowly but surely building up a collection of Frost Emblems with which to start upgrading my gear. Hopefully we'll have some luck in ICC10 this week and maybe get some of those bosses down. We haven't had a chance to get back over there since our first trip so I am looking forward to dishing out some payback. We went after some of the Heroic achievements this weekend and I am down to 14 left for my Red Drake. A bunch of those are Occulus though mostly because I hate the place. It has been fun and I have been having a lot of fun in WOW lately and it is nice to see so many people on. Gotta say the LFD tool sure has been good to the game in that respect. I have to say the Anomuls achievement in Nexus kind of sucks so I am glad we got that one done.

LFD: Tank vs. Dps

Last night I logged on long enough to do a random dungeon for some emblems and thought since I was still in my dps spec I'd just queue up as dps. Well if you have done this already you know there is a huge difference in wait times for a tank vs. a dps. Its not like it took forever or anything and I did get to do a little mining during the wait which was good as I hadn't done any for a while. I also was in a run with some uber geared dps, it doesn't take much to knock you down a few pegs when you think your doing alright and thought you pulled some good numbers on a fight and look at yourself in third on recount. I was pushing between 3.5 to 4k on some pulls and these guys were way ahead of me like 5-6k every fight. I really tried to buckle down and push it as hard as I could and I may have done some of my best dps ever but those guys just stomped me. so any illusions of me being super dps went away real quick. Thankfully I do a pretty good job of tanking and don't need to worry about it. I did get to see how other people handle certain pulls and groups so that was definitely a valuable experience to have. I hope we get a good weekly raid quest tonight and can push into some other stuff afterwards. This post has a lot of random thoughts, sorry.

I used to like the holidays

My Mom goes crazy around the holidays and so every year I get guilted into helping her decorate and wrap presents. She is a fanatic and does hundreds of little stocking stuffers from the dollar stores and clearance sales from throughout the year. So I have had the great pleasure of wrapping a ton of that stuff. My WOW time has taken a hit. I think I logged on for a little while Friday night but that was about it. I will just be happy when it is all over honestly. I don't even know whats going on this week in our guild. I should be able to run Tuesday and Wednesday so hopefully we'll be running something on those days. At least this only happens once a year :).

I brought my dps gear out of the bag for the first time in weeks last night.

When you are a tank its nice to have a dual-spec but if your like me you really don't use it very often. because rarely if ever do you get asked to go anywhere as dps and running dailies is usually faster in tank spec because you can just grab more bad guys and take down large groups of mobs to speed up the process. Well last night we went into Ulduar to work on some of the bosses we hadn't done yet and we took out Hodir and Thorim which was pretty cool. Our raid leader had brought in another tank to help show us the ropes and since Hodir is a 1 tank fight I got to go ret and even rocking the 4 piece t7.0 set and an assortment of 200-219 level epics I had gotten randomly I pushed out 3500 on our Hodir kill which surprised me since I don't usually do well on movement fights and that fight is all over the place. I actually upgraded 4 pieces of gear last night for my dps set and got them gemmed and enchanted so I am kind of curious what I might be able to do now. I might just cue up some random dungeons as dps to give it a try and be one of the random faceless pew-pewers in the crowd.

I have been working like crazy since Friday. We moved our company to a new building this weekend. We got smacked around by Ol' Marrowgar last week. We may need a bit more gear to get by that guy and then go with 3 dedicated healers from the get go. I do have to say the trash in there is crazy. I half want to go in and just farm some trash so I can get enough rep for my ring. I have only been on long enough to do one random heroic since then because I have been too tired to do anything when I get home from work. I haven't read any blogs, I haven't even checked my email since Friday. I feel very cut off from the world. Hopefully now that we have everything moved things should be much more calm and I may not be so tired by the end of the week. Sorry I wasn't on Friday to run heroics boss I put in 14 hours at work that day and I was done. I will probably log on tomorrow night for a little bit at least get a couple frost emblems.

OK tonight we go into Icecrown

Well I know we were going to go Tuesday but that didn't work out with the servers not being friendly to everyone. I am in the Midwest and have been dealing with the blizzard here so I didn't have work yesterday and got to play a lot more WOW than normal. I have gotten into the new 5 mans and I like them but as a tank I think there are way to many casters (We may unretire crowd control on a couple of pulls). I also think they may get a little tedious with the monologues but other than that some fun and interesting fights. I am pretty happy with everything I've seen from the new patch I even got rid of some of my addons (mainly Cartographer and Questhelper) because now the game covers what I wanted from them. I didn't really have any issues with my other addons although I did have to adjust some of my game settings which was weird why was my camera control changed and my loot window location was different too, just kind of odd. So anyways tonight we are going to go into ICC and take our first shot at the new raid. I have watched the vids and read the strats and I feel like we are going to do great. I am really looking forward to it. I hope everyone else is having as much fun as I am with all the new stuff.

Well as long as the servers are up anyways :). I am hopeful though and I have been doing my research and I think I am ready for the fight. As long as we can work together I think we stand a good chance at taking him down. I do want to try out the new 5mans too sometime soon so if the raid doesn't work out maybe we'll jump in those. Also have to do the random dungeon daily and find out what the raid weekly quest is. Wow there is a lot of stuff to do. I am really looking forward to this and I think we are going to have a blast tonight. I hope everyone else is as excited as I am to try out all the new stuff and good luck on whatever you are working on.

Getting in that comfort zone

When I'm tanking I have different mindsets depending on what I'm tanking. I am also a bit of a perfectionist so if I screw up a pull or somebody dies on my watch I can get a bit frustrated. Tanking in a raid is different from tanking a heroic. When I am raid tanking I am prepared for wipes and dieing and frustration and repair bills, I expect these things and try to keep an even keel and come back from every wipe focused and ready to kill the boss. On the other hand I sometimes get a little lackadaisical in heroics because I've "been there, done that" and I don't really need anything from them. Now that's not to say I don't enjoy blowing through one once and a while, and I am always willing to run if some of our guildies need to go. Now last night we ran a couple heroics and I was finally in my zone where I felt comfortable and just rolled through ready to blow stuff up. It may have helped that we did CoS first as I really like that one because the timer is there to keep me on the ball and focused. I made a point to learn how to destroy that place with my old guild and was able to get everyone in our guild a Bronze Drake. It was something I really wanted to help them accomplish and was glad to do it. It doesn't hurt that the place is full of undead and as a pally I am well equipped to handle the undead. We destroyed the Nexus after that too. I had a lot of fun even though we didn't get to raid and I can always get some more Boa gear for my new army of alts because its a little to expensive to transfer all my toons to the new server and I really do like leveling. I got my new hunter to 12 last night before we started the heroics up. Leveling is so much more fun than dailies

Now I am not in charge of our guild (thankfully, Swan is way better at it than I would be) so its not my decision to make, but I am curious as to what you think our guild should do if ICC comes out next week. We are not a hardcore guild but we do have a regular raiding schedule and we do a pretty good job for where we are in my opinion. We haven't killed Yogg yet (in fact we are still working on the keepers) and we got, I think the word is roflstomped, by Faction Champs the one time we went to the big room of raiding. Now I am a big fan of Ulduar actually (except Ignis that fight is dumb in my opinion), and I would like to finish it out, but it would be cool to be raiding the actual current raid tier with everyone else, as I have never had a chance to really do that before in game. We do have some well geared quality members in our guild and raid team and I think I do pretty good job as a tank so I think we could actually put in some legitimate attempts on the new raid almost right away, especially since everything will be dropping triumph badges and everyone in your raid can be in tier9 gear in a week or two with a little heroic grinding, and the crazy new gear out of the new 5mans. For me, honestly I am good either way because I just want to kill bosses and have fun with my guild. There aare a couple ways of going about it that seem to make the most sense to me. The new gear will help us push through what we are working on now even faster, and would give us all good feelings of moving through content or we could try bashing our head against the new raid for a couple hours a week and fall back to other stuff if that doesn't work out. So faithful viewers what do you think we should do? Either way I will defer to our fearless leader I was just curious of your opinion

Happy post is happy. It took us a little while but we did down the dragon last night and tonight we did some good work through Ulduar and are going to punch through some more tomorrow. Woot!!

One of my best friends quit WOW

I haven't posted for a while because I wasn't sure what to write. My friend is having some money issues and had to cancel his account. Its weird because he's been playing since vanilla and was one of the main conspirators that convinced me to sign-up. Lately we have even been leveling up a couple of horde toons in our spare time to see the storyline from that side of things. We just got our Warrior/DK combo to 70 2 weeks ago and were plowing through the Howling Fjord. Now I don't know if I want to wait until he comes back to level that toon up because depending on certain things he may not come back at all as he's got a new house and a new girlfriend and his family life keeps him busy. Now I'll still get to hang out with him and we'll play games over xbox live and stuff so its not like we won't be friends anymore but after 2+ years of playing WOW together its now something we don't have in common anymore. It will be something to get used to for sure because it was something we have spent alot of time doing together. I still enjoy the game and my new guild has been great so I don't see myself quitting anytime soon, but I can tell I don't play nearly as much as I used to. I hardly logged in at all over the holiday weekend just getting a level on my warrior alt and another on my shaman alt. I really haven't felt like logging in nearly as much lately at all. I thought it was just because I was waiting for the new patch to come out because I am really excited for the new dungeons and raids, but it may be because I am not spending as much time with my friends as I used too. Being in a small guild of friends where everybody knows everybody and talking in vent all night and going over to each others houses and just hanging out kept us all logging in almost every night I've noticed, now that some of us have kind of splintered off, that my old guild has really fell off where there's usually only 1 or 2 people on at all. I know its not all my fault but I knew that there would be some fallout because I used to basically drag alot of them through stuff and without me there to "drive the boat" so to speak it seems like nothing is going on there anymore. I am very driven most of the time and I like to accomplish goals and in WOW that makes me want to tackle more difficult encounters. That's what led me to transfer to my new server and its what makes wiping on boss fights not such a pain because I can see how everybody is trying to work together to reach that goal. Well this was kind of a downer post so tomorrow I'll have a much more cheerful post about our much smoother Ony kill tonight and whatever other adventures that come our way.

Our group got together last night to take down Ony last night and since we had never been there as a group we had some learning to do on the mechanics of the fight, or how to avoid deep breaths lol. It's always funny how it works out where you struggle and struggle and then when you get it everybody is alive at the end. Some loot was passed out and fun was had by all or at least by me I guess I can't speak for everyone.

Weekend Update: Not much WOW actually

I actually spent the greater part of my weekend reading and catching up some TV (by the way TV on DVD and streamed on the Internet is the only way to watch TV. The only thing I actually watch on TV when its on is football and even that's very rare lately). I did play my horde toon on Friday night that my friend and I are leveling together. We are both 70 now and pushing hard through Howling Fjord. I did play a little Saturday morning but just a few dailies. I think I actually played Gears of War 2 more on Sunday then I did WOW this weekend. I felt like getting on the XBOX a bit after my friend brought his copy of Assassins Creed 2 over. I wish I wasn't broke because that game looks like a lot of fun. Maybe I'll ask my folks to get it for me for Christmas hahaha. Actually I'd rather they get me a microwave since the buttons on mine are going out(Do you know how annoying it is when you can't press the 1 on your microwave.) I didn't mention yet though that we made some really good progress on Ulduar last week. We finally killed that jerk Ignis and also got Auriya down to. We did kind of a peek at the Hodir fight which didn't go too bad actually I think with a little practice we should be able to take him out with a few more tries. So thats going well. I probably should have gone into Naxx this weekend with them I just was not really into WOW and needed to recharge the batteries. I have been pushing hard at WOW since the big server move and while its definitely been awesome I am now for the first time feeling the stress of being a raider. Its just something to get used to. I do think though that this move has given me the best chance I could ever get at killing Arthas and that's really going to be awesome. I may be the only guy on the Internet who is not pissed about the gating thing they are doing in Icecrown but this actually gives our guild a shot at going into Icecrown Citadel and keeping up with everyone else. I think we are basically geared enough to go in when it comes out, and while we might take longer to get the fights down with it being slowly released we will actually have a good shot at keeping up on our limited raid schedule. So hooray for false barriers I guess. I do understand what the other people are complaining about though and I don't think they are wrong in their opinions either. I am just trying to enjoy the game for what it is rather than what it used to be.
Wow I really need to watch it or all my posts will be giant walls of text.

The Tick is 80 woot!

He was even lucky enough to get a Spirit Beast thanks to ESN Rare, a handy little mod that will put out a warning when it scans a rare mod in the area. I also did some planning ahead and thanks to the Tournament and 2 runs through reg Toc at 79 had him one trinket away from the Superior Achievement and with 7 epics. I really missed having my hunter maxed out and I had a real debate when the expansion came out who was gonna be my first 80 my Hunter or my Pally, well then the great BM nerfbat came out that really turned me away from my hunter for a while. He is really fun though and I am really glad I got him leveled up. I guess the question I need to ask is what do I do with him now?

My Road to WOW

Jaded Alt did a post last week about what their road to WOW was and I thought I would give it a whirl myself.

I can remember the first video game I ever remember seeing, it had a plumber and he kept running to his right to try to save a princess. Yes Super Mario Bros. was the first video game I remember ever seeing when Nintendo first came out my cousin got one for Christmas which was at our house that year and we hooked it up and the whole family squished goombas and picked flowers for a couple hours. I myself didn't get a Nintendo until I bought one myself which by that time my cousin had gotten his genesis and they had gotten the Sega channel but thats neither here nor there. My first video game machine was a Commodore 64. It had a place to stick cartridges in the back and a disk drive. I had like 7-8 games I think but the ones that got the most play were Centipede because my Mom was good at it and I played a very deep RPG called Mars Saga. You could create all kinds of characters and you walked around maps exploring areas and you would combat random groups of bad guys, It also used a casino as a way to help you make money in game (I think that's why I don't like slot machines because I used to play the slots in that game all the time) If all of your group died you basically had to start over and begin from scratch it was kind of hardcore You had all kinds of skills and equipment and weapons. It was a really entertaining game and I understand now why I have always liked RPG's so much after getting into that game so much. Eventually between my cousin's my own and the neighbor I played a bunch of Nintendo games Castlevania, Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear, Super Mario Bros 3 being the most memorable, and I played a ton of Tetris, don't know why just really liked it.

When we got a PC I played a couple of strategy games I think came from the same company Masters of Orion and Masters of Magic which were very similar to original Warcraft in that they were build up groups of troops and buildings and go clear the map of everyone else type of games. They did have alot more race options and there was even diplomatic options, but it usually came down to destruction. I don't really remember too much about them actually, although I did play them quite a bit. A couple of my friends had Warcraft 2 and Starcraft so I played them a little bit but mostly just custom modes. When I moved out to go to college I really wasn't playing any video games, my roommate had Warcraft 2 and would make custom maps as hard as he could and see how long it took me to beat them but that was really rare. But my other roommate had a friend who needed a place to crash for a couple weeks and he brought his PlayStation over with him and had Final Fantasy 7. Now this was a totally new experince for me. I saw that first cutscene in FF7 and I was blown away. Well I was officially turned back into a video game junky at that point. I bought a used PlayStation and started accumulating games as I could afford them. I must have put in over 300 some hours on FF7 that game was on so much at my house that even still a bunch of my friends know the music you hear after winning a battle (dunna duh na dun dun-na, either you know what I mean or you now think I'm a crazy person). I was also a huge fan of Resident Evil 2, Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Gran Turismo. I ended up playing a ton of FF8 through FF10. I was a huge Final Fantasy geek. Moving up the video game food chain I had preordered my PS2 and got it right away although I ended up going through 2 of them before it was all said and done (I never thought of it before but that means I had more of those break than Xbox 360's which I've only had one Red Ring Of Death on). I actually ended up having an Xbox, a PS2 and a Gamecube (hey mariokart and super smash bros were awesome party games and were 4 player right out of the box, and well everybody I knew had Halo so if I wanted to join in the fun I had to get it, I think I had 3 Xbox games total compared to the 30-40 games on PS2) like I said junky. I think I tried almost every RPG that came out on PS2, but I gave up on Final Fantasy when 11 came out. I just didn't think it was right to pay a monthly fee to play a video game (hahaha that sure changed) Well when it was time to decide what was next I sold all three of those systems on Ebay to pay for my Xbox 360 and although now all I have it for is to watch instant Netflix I still think I made the right call (I sure am glad I didn't buy one of those HD-DVD addons though, lol, I was waiting that out to see who won). Well I guess that about gets me to my WOW story.

I had known a few of my friends who played WOW over the years and I had watched them play a bit and I never really thought I would like it the graphics didn't impress and I had become such a console fanatic that all those buttons and keyboard shortcuts just looked like too much work. Well my neighbor (who coincidentally was my also my roommate back when I was introduced to the PS) had gotten talked into doing the free trial by one of our friends and was having fun and a bunch of our friends were all playing together leveling up and stuff so he was like just do the free trial if you don't like it just quit. Well I thought alright I can handle a free trial so I loaded it up and this was about a month after TBC came out and I started an alliance pally (which was probably a good thing looking back as they have so few buttons to push as you level up) on the server they were all on and well of course got really into it, the on rails design of the quests and the constant reinforcement you get from leveling up was really fun and having people to hang out with and talk to on vent while we played was really cool. What got me into the WOW bloggosphere actually was looking something up on Thottbot and not finding it so I googled it and found WowInsider (WOW.com now) All of the sudden I was hooked and started reading it everyday and when BRK said he had his own blog I started reading it too well then I started reading a ton of different blogs and now I have people who actually read my little blog about WOW. It seems so weird and I never could have predicted it but here I am and I don't see the end in sight anytime soon.

Invasion

Well Swan was nice enough to say I could invite some of my old guild members over to the new server if they wanted to come and wouldn't you know it I have a few who are already on the way and my roommate ran the H daily with them last night. We may even have enough people to start running 2 10 man teams or a 25man team. I know that Swan would like that because she hates leaving people behind. I totally understand that. It will be interesting to see how things progress from here but I'm sure everyone will get along great my new guild is full of awesome people and I have been having a blast raiding with them.

I didn't post a glorious post of our awesome defeat of Malygos. Well theres a good reason for that. We spent almost 2 hours cruising through phase 1+2 and then wiping in horrible fashion on phase 3. I am all for trying to learn a new challenge and I was hopeful a couple times but I am starting to not be a very big fan of that fight. I am hopeful though that sometime soon we will go back and get lucky and kill the big blue dragon. I guess tonight we will have to go into Ulduar and blow up some bosses in there. That should be fun.
